About Hotpad

News update 8/13/00:
Hotpad development is now officially discontinued. I have decided that it works well enough for its intended purpose, and I have chosen to move onto another project. See the NetSamurai page for more details.

Hotpad is an integrated development environment for Java and C/C++. It is written in Java and requires the JDK 1.1 or JRE 1.1 to run. (If you don't know what the JDK is, then this program is probably not for you.) Hotpad uses the standard Java AWT, so it is a much smaller download than editors which use special Swing classes (4 MB+). This program is most likely to be useful for amateur Java programmers like myself who have difficulty finding a simple, but powerful Java IDE.

Note: Unless people e-mail me, I have no idea if anyone is even using Hotpad. As far as I know, Hotpad has 1 user.
